We deliver cutting edge 3D CGI, design and digital graphics
3D CGI allows ideas and concepts to be visualised. Virtual cameras can 'film' conceptual ideas in synthetic environments that are limited only by imagination. Using a state of the art digital tool-set, we can create still or animated visuals in a range of styles and complexity that may be 100% CGI or a photo/film composite. We are experts in our field regularly work with advertising agencies, CGI studios, as well as SMEs and blue-chip clients.
We can handle the full creative process - from your initial brief to the final output. As a multi-disiplinary team with a formidable range of experience in many fields of 3D and design, we can advise on the best approach to a project. Please feel free to contact us for advice or clarification on any issues related to our services.
We are specialists in 3D graphics and visual effects, capable of creating still or animated visuals in a range of styles and complexity. Our capabilities range from photorealistic stills for Dyson to stylised 3D infographics for the Dubai Metro, and animated movies for broadcast to high level motion-captured character CGI.
3D Computer animation is the art of creating moving images via the use of computers as the tool, and allows ideas and concepts to be realised. Virtual cameras can film conceptual ideas in synthetic environments that are limited only by imagination. We handle the full process; from initial sketches, storyboard, animatic, modelling, animation, lighting, special effects and rendering to to post production.
Visual Effects (VFX)
3D CGI is our core specialism and each project that we create is custom to the clients' requirements. Drawing on our experience, we work with you to create the optimum result - whether it is a full CGI movie or single shot.

Spherovelo 3D animated product video
The applications for 3D visualisation are varied, and are usually driven by our client's requirements. Past visualisation projects have ranged from ultra-high resolution 3D illustrations of Dyson products for global marketing, to visuals of concept vessels for the Royal Navy. Possibilities range from photorealistic images of concept or existing products, to illustration of complex processes. CGI allows a high degree of control over the final output.
Our most notable 3D visuals are the photorealistic renderings that we created for Dyson and for BMT's ship design which successfully won the tender for the UK RFA's new Tide class fleet Tanker.
A very useful aspect of 3D CGI is that the 3D scenes that we create for an animation can often be re-purposed to provide high resolution still images, and vice-versa. For instance we created a marketing CG video for Easy Rider's Spherovelo product, and we subsequently high resolution stills from the same 3D assets. Still images for print and multi-media generally need to be much higher resolution than that used for animation.
Post production is the further manipulation of the computer rendered elements. This may involve the blending of reality with digital CG to create composite shots, or may be fully computer generated. Photo montage is a type of compositing and can be useful for placing a concept product into a real situation - eg concept naval vessel into a seascape. At the other extreme, live action may be seamlessly composited with animated CGI elements.

3D modelling is a one of our core competences and our expertise of this area is formidable. Whether the final purpose is game development, simulation, 3D rendering, augmented reality, or 3D printing, we can help you.

This exciting technology can incorporate 3D models and animation into a real-time, live environment where the digital live view of reality (via smart phone or ipad) is augmented with overlays such as 3D animations or 3D models. In the same way that a modern fighter pilot's visor overlays contours and data over real terrain, data is overlaid to improve and add extra information to a live view through a handheld device.
We were recently involved in 3D augmented reality projects with leading defence contractor BMT Defence Services and AR specialist Media Grand. Although our latest projects are confidential, a project which is in the public domain is an augmented reality app that involves a CGI Type 45 destroyer and BMT DSL's Tide Class Tanker performing a RAS operation. This leading-edge augmented reality project involved a 3D animated Type 45, helicopter and crew, interacting with a scale physical model of the tanker design. For more information, see these links:
Our primary role in this field is the production of optimised 3D assets for use in simulated or synthetic environments. We also have the capability to produce standalone immersive environments for diverse applications and platforms. This is a rapidly evolving field, so plesse contact us to find out more. Our team have many years of experience gained in computer games development where efficient 3D modelling, texturing, and animation were paramount. The skill with any real time 3D system is to display rich computer generated content with a minimum computational cost. Real time systems must process data efficiently, therefore the 3D assets that visually define that environment need to add realism without overloading the system.
3D engine assets
Simulator 3D engines
Simulation and rea- time 3D are usually driven by proprietary 3D rendering engines. The produced assets must be extremely efficient in respect of the low polygon count, clean topology, mapped UVs and low resolution textures, and strict animation and model formats.
Preparing a 3D model for a real-time 3D engine is an art and we can help you achieve high realism with a minimal 'footprint'. With the increasing convergence between commercial simulation and computer game technology, the level of interaction now achievable within a synthetic environment is considerable.
We have produced realtime 3D simulation and in-game 3D assets for BMT DSL, Sony Entertainment, Carlton Communications Plc, and LEGO Media.
This is a developing field of research and so far we have been involved in the deployment of real-time 3D for fully interactive web and offline presentation of products. Recent work for BOTT included the creation of 3D graphic and animated assets for inclusion in their new award winning configuration tool. Work for EADS Defense Securite included the use of interactive 3D PDFs for design awareness and presentations.

2D digital image editing and photo retouching is one of our core skills. Computer generated (CG) content can be skilfully composited into real-world scenes such as photographs and videos. This is very useful for illustrating concepts, new buildings, new vehicles, 'what-if' scenarios and producing dramatic creative situations. Many of our animated videos feature CGI-photographic composites and our digital matte painting skills are often employed to create suitable environments for CGI shots.
Whether it is a cutaway diagrammatic illustration of a submarine, or step-by-step image based instruction sequences for print, web and interactive applications, we will find a solution. Often using a balance between 3D renders and 2D artworking skills, we can can create a wide range of illustrative styles for all manner of requirement.
For instance, we created the numerous technical illustrations for technical data-packs for the UK MoD (sub-contracted by Karrimor SF) which detailed the design and specifications of all aspects of the British Army's new combat patrol pack. Working with client input at all stages, over 150 highly detailed line-work illustrations were created using a proprietary pipeline whereby a rigged 3D model of the rucksack design was constructed and digitally rendered in a contour style.
Over the past years, we have worked closely with Karrimor SF and EADS during the design and development of load-carriage equipment for special forces and European military organisations. The combination of our industrial design and 3D expertise has allowed the design process to be streamlined and accelerated. For example, the introduction of our 3D into the development cycle accelerated this phase by reducing the number of generations of physical samples required. Our involvement in the design and development process of a European future soldier concept included the exploration of design and human factor solutions of a feasible wearable integrated electronics system for the modern soldier.
We are experienced in producing graphic design solutions and printed media. To produce great graphics and printed material requires a keen eye for detail, creative flair, technical expertise and a firm grip on quality at every stage. We will advise you on all aspects of the design including the production of any illustrative material, copywriting and photography. Our team is highly proficient with industry standard digital publishing, photo-retouching and illustration tools.
As a multi-disciplinary team and have the capability to take on projects in many aspects of design and we welcome diverse projects. An example was in 2012 when we were approached by Kirsty Allsopp to design her new website. We worked closely with her production office to create and publish her new website that reflected her design sensibilities and brand. We have web development specialists that can be brought onto projects where required.
